Forestry Mulching Contractors
Northwest Concrete and Construction (NWCC) has been performing concrete, redi-mix, and site work services since 1975. In 2013, NWCC decided to take a chance on a new avenue and provide another service, Forestry Management.
When NWCC began forestry management four years ago it started with one skid steer that had a heavy duty brush mower on it which allowed our team to get acquainted working with new customers and new environments. In the three years that have followed, we have enjoyed the growth of our forestry management division.
Our forestry division has grown from the one skid steer with a brush mower to a respectable fleet. Currently we are operating two Komatsu (2015 models) track hoes and three skid steers with multiple attachments. The track hoes one a long stick 360 and the other is a 240 both track hoes have 53” Fecon drum heads.
As for the skid steers we have two 299D XHP Caterpillars and one T770 Bobcat. We made sure that we would be able to provide a wide variety of services with the skid steers so we have attained multiple attachments including; drum heads, rotary mulching heads (similar to a hot saw used for logging), and tree shears. With all of these attachments for the skid steers we are able to take on a wide variation terrain and materials so we can meet the needs of our clients.
With the growth of our forestry division we have worked very hard to obtain state, county, Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and other government contracts. We have completed over 230 miles of right of way mulching under a contract with our local county highway department. We have also completed thousands of acres for the state of Minnesota and DNR that has been a mixture of right of way and land enhancement mulching.
What we have learned through dealing with governmental agencies is to be prompt, follow their scope of work, fill out all of the associated paperwork that is necessary to obtain and complete these contracts.
